UIN STS Jambi Explores Academic Partnership with Nigerian Universities

UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin (STS) Jambi is expanding its international reach by opening talks with the Federal University of Education (FUE), Zaria, Nigeria, building on earlier collaboration with Kaduna State University (KSU).

The meeting, held online on 24 July 2025 at 08:00 local time in Nigeria (14:00 WIB), was introduced by Prof. Zainab Yusuf of KSU. Dr. Dion Ginanto presented UIN STS Jambi’s profile, while Prof. Kabir Haruna Danja outlined FUE’s academic programmes.

Discussions centred on potential cooperation in areas such as international webinars, joint research and journal reviewing, guest lectures, Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), and student mobility.

Global South Context

Indonesia and Nigeria are among the world’s most populous nations, Indonesia ranks fourth, Nigeria sixth. Both countries are part of the Global South, where education partnerships are increasingly seen as a way to strengthen academic networks beyond traditional links with Asia, Europe and the United States.

Prof. Kabir Haruna Danja said: “I am grateful for this opportunity. I hope the collaboration will be productive in the future.”

Prof. Zainab Yusuf noted similarities between the institutions: “UIN STS Jambi shares many commonalities with KSU and FUE. I want to help connect these universities so our network can grow wider.”

Dr. Dion Ginanto added: “We are very pleased with this opportunity. UIN STS Jambi is committed to becoming a world-class university, and expanding partnerships with Nigeria is part of that vision.”
