JAMBI, In a meeting held on August 6, 2026, at the office of the Vice Rector I, Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi took decisive steps toward finalizing the admission of international students. The session marked the culmination of months of document reviews and eligibility checks, paving the way for the issuance of an official decree on student acceptance.
The meeting was chaired by Vice Rector I, Dr. Ayub Mursalin, alongside Dion Ginanto, Coordinator of PLKI-LPPM, and Ali Ubay, staff member of the Cooperation Division.
Ali Ubay presented the latest updates on foreign student registration, while Dion Ginanto outlined the status of scholarship support. According to Dion, the university received 29 applications from Sudan, narrowed down to 10 candidates, with 7 ultimately accepted. From Malaysia, 22 students applied, and 10 were admitted. Meanwhile, 3 students from Thailand successfully passed the selection process.
Dr. Ayub emphasized the importance of rigorous scrutiny, particularly concerning Sudanese applicants.
“Please ensure that foreign students, especially from Sudan, are strictly screened. If their documents are questionable or fail to meet visa requirements, they should not be included in the decree,” he said.
He also underscored the strategic role of scholarships in attracting more international students.
“We must ensure that scholarships granted to foreign students serve as a promotional strategy to bring in more international students in the future.”
Ali Ubay confirmed that the admissions decree would be finalized and submitted to the Rector for signature.
“We will immediately complete the decree of acceptance and report it to the Rector for approval,” he noted.
The meeting reflects UIN STS Jambi’s broader ambition to strengthen its internationalization agenda, balancing the expansion of global student enrollment with strict adherence to academic and immigration standards.
